“Idaho has a history of being a leader in the ski industry, as far back as the establishment of Sun Valley as Americas first destination ski resort, said Carl Wilgus, administrator, Idaho Tourism Division. “It’s only fitting that we would continue that trend with North America’s first, new all-season resort in more than 20 years. In 1953, Mr. Simplot purchased the Bogus Basin lifts and other mountain improvements from the Kingscliffe Co. and sold the assets back to the Bogus Basin Recreational Association for $1. According to available history, the assets included a T-Bar to the top of Deer Point, a rope tow or two, a warming hut and some other buildings and sheds. Plus the parking lot that had been built at some expense by M-K (who also built the T-Bar) was part of the deal. A review of available data puts the estimated value of the transaction at approximately $100,000, which equates to about seven times that amount today.(more) http://www.bogusbasin.com/
